Whoop-Whoop! Dilly Arts are very thankful to the Big Lottery Fund for confirming the final sum of funding for our project working with women prisoners of HMP YOI Low Newton. This funding joins our existing funding from Arts Council England and funding from HMP YOI Low Newton. We have commissioned Open Clasp Theatre Company to help the women devise their own play which will be taken up by professional female actors and toured to male prisons in the North East before our one and only public performance at the Live theatre on 7 June (follow link for more details and to book tickets). We will follow up the male prison performances with creative writing workshops to provide opportunity for the men to work through their responses to the work and the film of the performance at Live Theatre will be taken back into HMP YOI Low Newton so the women can see the public's response to their work. The soundtrack from this film will then be used to create an animated film by the women at HMP YOI Low Newton, this will be available in our website www.dillyarts.org.uk. We have also been funded by HMP Durham and HMP Frankland to work with male prisoners to create short films in response to the issues raised in the women's play – this opportunity has also been offered to HMP Northumberland and HMYOI Deerbolt. Click 'like' on our Facebook page to keep up to date with our work.
